Tea Seller From Odisha Has Been Awarded With Padma Shree

The man who is a ‘Chaiwala’, now is a Padma Shree awardee. Devarapalli Prakash Rao the man from Odisha who is 59-year-old has been awarded the fourth highest civilian award. The contribution made by him for boosting the value of education which also includes the slum kids.

The Day when Devarapalli Prakash Rao, a tea seller from Cuttack, Odisha has been making headlines across the nation. He was first seen by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi during a visit to Cuttack. The first time, Prime Minister Modi talks about him was during one of his Mann Ki Baat in the radio broadcast.

This is quite surprising that why Devarapalli Prakash Rao has been awarded by Civilian Award, Padma Shree. From the past two decades, Rao is contributing for the education of slum kids, ageing from four to nine. Mr Rao by selling tea contributes half his income for the slum kids education. These children are actually of Rickshaw Pullers, Daily wage earners, and municipal workers. They don’t have any facility to educate their children, so Mr. Roa has taken an initiative to help them out and educate children.

Devarapalli Prakash Rao in 2000 started school named, ‘Asha O Ashwasana by thinking that children do not get pulled in crimes and alcohol. Instead of getting into this they’ll concentrate on studies. Rao never was encouraged by his father to study due to some circumstances.  He never stopped helping the young minds to study and get a proper education.

Rao has to quit his studies after passing X due to poverty. This man just wants to educate the slum kids to have a better future. Moreover, Rao is well aware of different languages, he has a strong command in 8 different languages which makes him more unique. He also helps others to gain the knowledge.

The story of Roa is an inspiration for all of us this is quite surprising to know that in spite of doing all this Rao is also an active blood donor since 1976. He also provides different facility to children like he feeds them with milk and biscuits as a mid-day meal and provides school uniforms and footwear.

Devarapalli Prakash Rao is an inspiration to all of us. The story of Rao makes him different from others, no doubt he is devoting his life for others. Now he has received the honour of Padma Shree, the civilian award.
