This romance began with Saagar that released in 1985, and continues till date, with the latest outing being Deepika Padukone’s Finding Fanny. 1. Chapora Fort
Think about a road trip to Goa and the first thing that comes to mind is Dil Chahta Hai. I don’t know about you, but I definitely pictured myself sitting at Chapora Fort with my friends when the film released 15 years ago. Yes, 15 years! Take as much time as you want to process that.
The Chapora Fort is a magnificent site in its own right. But the film deserves a lot of credit for bringing it to the public eye. This magnificent fort is located in Bardez, Goa.
2. Saligao Church
This is the most shot destination in Goa, thanks to our film industry. The glorious church located in the quaint village of Saligao is an excellent example of Gothic architecture. What attracts the filmmakers to this beauty, besides it unique architecture – is its lush surroundings.
You can watch Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Dhoom, Khamoshi and Finding Fanny again. And you are going to easily find this church in various frames.
3. Panjim Church
A significant part of the film Josh, starring Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Chandrachur Singh has been filmed here at Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception Church in Panjim. What makes it really special is that it is one of the oldest churches in Goa. It is made in the shape of a wedding cake. You never noticed that, did you?
This is where Chandrachur thought of Aishwarya as ‘Mere Khayalo Ki Mallika’! With such an impressive background, he is bound to feel that way, don’t you think?
4. Dudhsagar Waterfalls
These waterfalls can be spotted when Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are in the movie Chennai Express. It is known as Dudhsagar because the foaming water seems like a milk stream flowing down the mountains.
Visit this picturesque place the next time you’re in Goa! It is located in Sonaulim, Goa about 60 km from Panaji.
5. Our Lady of the Mount Chapel
Bollywood’s beloved church. Our Lady of the Mount Chapel has graced our screen time and again in films like All The Best and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. This church is in Old Goa and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
