Valentine’s day, also known as Saint Valentine’s Day, is celebrated annually on February 14. This day is the day of love and romance, strengthening the bond shared among loved ones. There are many stories about Saint Valentine. The most famous one is that during his life. Emperor Claudius II thought that soldiers should only be devoted to the country i.e. Rome and therefore passed a law preventing them from marrying.

It was during this time, Saint Valentine began to marry these soldiers in secret ceremonies which marked his belief in the importance of love. However, Claudius found out about this and jailed Valentine. It is believed that during his imprisonment he cared for his fellow prisoners and also his jailor’s blind daughter. He cured her blindness and before his execution wrote her a love letter signed ‘from your Valentine’. He was executed on 14th February in the year 270.

People normally associate the celebration with the young couples, but nowadays it is celebrated across the world among everyone, be it with your family or friends. People do different things on this day, some go for romantic dinner while others may propose or get married.
