The section will also be equipped with all latest facilities like modern signalling equipment’s, electronic interlocking facility as many as 31 minor bridges and 10 roads over bridges.
Good news to the tourist visiting all time favourite place RAM SETU. Indian railways link to Ram Setu. Prime minister NARENDRA MODI has laid the foundation stone of two very important railway projects in Tamil Nadu. The first foundation is Rameshwaram-Dhanushkodi railway line which will provide tourist and pilgrims visiting this holy place. They have been gifted with the largest network of railways to this place. Dhanushkodi is the starting point of Ram Setu. The other big projects that our PM laid the foundation is of vertical lift bridge over the sea, also being called the new PAMBAN BRIDGE.
The railway connectivity between Rameshwaram-Dhanushkodi is 17.20 km.the project will be developed at the cost of Rs.208 crore. The rail line of this area is likely to benefit the local as well as tourist people. It will increase the market and business of that area. The section is equipped with modern technology like modern signalling technology, as many as 31 minor bridges and 10 roads over bridges. In this area, there will be 3 halt railway station. The railway station is equipped with all the modern facilities like free WIFI, sanitation facilities, it will help to promote tourism in this area.
The other project which PM laid the foundation is of, PAMBAN BRIDGE which will be 2.05 km long and cost Rs.250 crore. The bridge will have 100 spans of 18.3-metre steel girder as well as one navigation of 72.5 meters. The aqueduct will be sufficient for 3 double railway lines. The aqueduct will be 3 km higher than the existing bridge. The navigation clearance will be 22 meters above the sea level, also full 72.5 meters will be available for navigation for the vertical lift. The new PAMBAN bridge will have an electro-mechanical controlled system.
