Over 200 Farmers filed nomination as MP contestants for Nizamabad constituency of Telangana. Sitting MP from TRS who represents the constituency, Ms. Kavitha, daughter of Telangana’s chief minister K. Chandra Sekhar Rao received a shocker immediately after her to appeal to farmers to contest for Varanasi constituency against prime minister Modi.
The whole episode happened as a continuation of protests by farmers against state and central governments demanding minimum support price for turmeric and red sorghum. Also, there has been a long-lasting demand for establishment of national turmeric board with Nizamabad as its headquarters. Many numbers of times Ms. Kavitha gave her voice in parliament in support of farmers.

Now, 185 out of 245 nominations filed are being accepted and polls are scheduled to be held on 11th April. Despite these protests, the constituency has always been in favour of TRS party and survey reports suggest a comfortable victory for TRS party and Ms. Kavitha.
