This state is divided into three parts namely Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh which is covered by the mighty ranges of Great Himalayas and the Pir Panjal Range. Often referred to as ‘Switzerland of India’  Kashmir is blessed with the most beautiful places to visit. Kashmir has a long list of places to visit, but we are discussing a few of them.

1. Srinagar:

Srinagar is one of the most beautiful and famous places to visit. With its natural beauty all around, greenery boating, trekking, bird watching to sightseeing Srinagar has all of these. It’s a heaven for the visitors as the weather of Srinagar is pleasant throughout the year. This place is also known as ‘mirror to the mountains’, Srinagar is the first choice for the travellers. The main highlight of this place is Dal Lake which is the gem of the city. Highlights of this place include Dal Lake, travel in a houseboat, visit Mughal Gardens.

Best time to visit this place is from June to October and for snowfall, you can visit in the month of December & January.

2. Pulwama:

Famously known as the ‘rice bowl of India’, this village in Jammu & Kashmir is the great place to witness the natural real beauty. Situated about 40km from Srinagar, this place has many tourist places to visit. This place showers amidst weather, pleasant smell saffron fields, malleable citizens. People of Pulwama have a very rich culture and diversity. Main attractions of this place are mountaineering and trekking in summer and skiing and snowboarding in winters.

Best time to visit this place is from April to October.

3. Pahalgam:

Pahalgam is a demonstration of the heaven on Earth which is situated at a height of 2740m. Situated about 95km from Srinagar and surrounded by dense forest all around, beautiful lakes and meadows of flowers. This popular town is the best place to release stress. Highlights of this place include a visit to Betab and Aru valleys, horseback riding, canoeing.

Best time to visit: June to October and for snowfall in December and January.

4. Poonch:

One of the most visited tourist places in Kashmir is Poonch. The lush green meadows, small valleys, lakes, snow-capped mountains. The 18th century Poonch Fort combines in your wishlist and a beautiful to visit. The seven lakes of Girgan Dhok have to be in your list, alongside covers many religious shrines like Baksh Sahib and Gurudwara Nangali Sahib. Main places to visit include temple visit, trekking, sightseeing.

5. Anantnag:

Captivated with adorn beauty. Includes freshwater spring, flourishing gardens, Anantnag is a divine destination. You get to enjoy the comfort and divine beauty of the city. Places to visit here are Verinag and Daksum. Highlights of this place include sightseeing, day trips, time visit.

Best time to visit: Anytime throughout the year.

6. Gulmarg:

This place has been among the top priority of the visitors. People usually visit here to enjoy the snowfall. World’s highest and largest ropeway with an aerial distance of nearly 5 km. The view from the top of the mountain is 3979 metres mesmerizing above sea level is bewildering.

Snowfall occurs here throughout the year, giving tourists a fair to enjoy the snow. You can reach here by air, road or by train. Skiing can be enjoyed with the help of professionals at 14000 ft above sea level.

Best time to visit: March to June.

7. Sonmarg:

Sonmarg also referred to as ‘meadow of gold’. Snow clad mountains, green grassland and safari to enjoy. Sonmarg is also the starting point to begin Amaranth Yatra. Some famous events include River rafting, Zorbing, Trekking is the events conducted around the popular tourist spot. Sonmarg is closed in winter due to heavy rainfall and snowfall.

Best time to visit: February to March.

8. Kashmir valley:

A beautiful place to visit for the tourists. Kashmir valley is the largest Himalayan Valley is an elliptical shaped landmark of Kashmir. It is surrounded by Karakoram and Pir Panjal ranges. It has a great view in all possible directions. You can reach here by all means of transport.

Paragliding is the main event to do at this place.

9. Kupwara:

It is known as the ‘crown of Kashmir’. Alpine mountains, clear water and thriving meadows describe the Kupwara district. Lolab valley and Bungas valley are the main attractions. The district where you will experience the true eternity of nature and will feel relaxed and the weather is quite pleasant there.

Best time to visit: April to October.

10. Hemis:

A must visits place in Kashmir if you’re a wildlife enthusiastic. Animals like snow leopard, Bharals, are seen. Located in Leh district around 40km from Ladakh. Hemis is famous for the Hemis festival. A festival donned with a multitude of colours and tradition. There are no hotels in Hemis, tourists have to reserve a stay in Leh. Attractions in Hemis include Hemis Monastery and Hemis National park.

Best time to visit: May to July
