Rishikesh is the most beautiful place in Uttarakhand. People who have been to Rishikesh may describe it as an experience of a lifetime. It has mountains, it has rivers and it has the perfect adventure sports. Yes, Rishikesh is the adventure sports capital. It is a popular city to just go backpacking and trekking. It has an adventure in every niche and corner and the list of options is simply endless. But in case you are going on either a tight budget or a tight schedule.
Here is a list of top 10 sports that you must do:
1. Bungee Jumping –
One of the most daring sports, this sport gives you an adrenalin rush like no other. If you want to feel your youth, and experience free fall, this sport is for you.
You are tied to a strong rope for safety measures. All you have to do is a jump. The rope will pull you up when you fall enough and reach a safe end limit.
2. River Rafting –
River rafting is the most common sport in Rishikesh. And what better way to take a dive in the Ganges than while doing a great sport. The good thing about river rafting is that there is a wider age bar, meaning more demographic range – younger to adult. This is also comparatively cheaper and it feels like you are going down a long long slide.
3. Rappelling –
Now let’s combine the two. Let us go downhill but at waterfalls. You see the appeal here? This is crazy!
4. Kayaking –
What is crazier is when you are going down the slide of Ganges, but not in the group anymore. Up your adventure game by having your own little kayak and doing this yourself. No instructor on your both with you. Go get it!
5. Flying Fox –
This is really a safe and cool sport. The idea is to rappel down the rope in a swift motion while having a bird’s eye view of the beauty underneath.
6. Mountain Biking –
Most of the above sports do not use much of your energy. But for the more active people, mountain biking is a great option. This is a sport for your fitness and capability. Not that this is any less fun. The ups and downs of the mountain plains and the open views are to die for – or, better yet live for.
7. Camping and Bonfire –
This is a family getaway. Away from the din and chaos of the city, this is not exactly a sport, but a must do. And they are fully facilitated, in the forest, under the clear sky. Take a breath of fresh air and forget about the hustle for a minute. You need it, I know.
8. Para-sailing and Para-gliding –
These are the sport-pair that we have all heard about in our lives and always wished to do too. Maybe you went to Goa and did a little mini version of this. But trust me when I tell you, Rishikesh has the real deal. If you have done this somewhere else before, do it again here.
9. Hot Air Ballooning –
Again not exactly a sport. But have you ever really, and I mean really really seen the world from this height. While actually being able to breathe the air and feel the wind, instead of peeping from a small aeroplane box?
10. Water Zorbing –
This is most often the preferred sport for kids. But it makes the list because it is really silly and fun to just go galloping in circles, and that too on the water!
So go to Rishikesh on your next holiday trip. Try to live your youth, either for the first time or once again.
